Bruniusson lays drumming on ice

"Hasse Bruniusson has decided to put his drumming on ice"

Well, it's not as bad as the headline makes it look. In northern
Sweden there is a town named Jukkasjärvi where they each winter
have a hotel built entirely out of ice. Beds, tables, walls,...
everything is made of ice. Hasse Bruniusson is part of a project
group that has built instruments out of ice: chimes, xylophone,
etc.

This past Saturday it was world premiere for ice-music composed by
this project group consisting of Terje Isungstedt from the group
Groupa, Hasse Bruniusson, Liselott Norelius (don't know who she is)
Sebastian Öberg (normally plays electric cello in "the Flesh
Quartet" which is a sextet consisting of 2 cellos, one viola, one
violin, singer and drummer) and Hans Eklund (if he is the one I am
thinking of, he is a contemporary orchestral composer).

You can't really tune ice, except by just luck commented Hasse.
But there has been successful experiments with wind instruments of
ice (exepting the reed, I suppose) and such instruments will be
used at some later concert.

Part of the concert is what Hasse called "Ice-techno" and will be
globally sent live from a concert there on New Years eve, as part
of the global transmission of New Year festivities. So this
concert was a sort-of general rehearsal, with guys from
Scandinavian and British TV along with some specially invited
guests
